3-Way Calling

Anywhere on Earth

With RangTel 3-Way Calling, you can connect with two other parties at the same time. The three of you can talk at once.

Setting up a 3-Way Call is simple.

  1. Dial your first party as you normally would.
  2. Once connected, press the Flash Button or Switch Hook on your phone and dial the second party.
  3. After the second party is connected, press the Flash Button or Switch Hook again, and you're all connected.

You won't be charged a fee to make 3-Way Calls if you are calling within Canada and the US. If you are calling Internationally, your call will be billed incrementally based on that country rate, but there will be no extra fee for making the 3-Way Call. See our International Rates

For billing purposes, we treat a 3-Way Call as two separate calls that happen at the same time.

Now RangTel proves that 3-Way Calling doesn't have to be complicated or cost extra money. It's just one of the many reasons to be a RangTel customer.

911 Dialing

RangTel Provides 911 Dialing ... Because Your Safety Is Important

RangTel offers a form of 9-1-1 service (9-1-1 Dialing) that is similar to traditional 9-1-1 (911) service but has some important differences and limitations when compared with enhanced 9-1-1 service (E911) available in most locations in conjunction with traditional telephone service. With both traditional 9-1-1 and E911 service, your call is sent directly to the nearest emergency response centre. In addition, with E911 service, your call back number and address are visible to the emergency response centre call-taker. With RangTel 's 9-1-1 service, your call is sent to a national emergency call centre. The call centre operator will confirm your location information and then transfer your 9-1-1 call to the emergency response centre nearest your location. You should be prepared to confirm your address and call-back number with the operator. If you use a WiFi, RangTel V-Phone or SoftPhone, your 9-1-1 calls will be routed to the national emergency response centre; however, emergency personnel do not receive your phone number or physical location information. Do not hang up unless told directly to do so and if disconnected, you should dial 9-1-1 again.

Your 9-1-1 Dialing service is activated when you subscribe to RangTel service. You should ensure your location information that you provided when you registered with RangTel is kept current at all times. In case you are not able to speak during the 911 call, the call taker will dispatch emergency response vehicles to your last registered address. Remember that you must update your 9-1-1 Dialing information if you move your device to a different location, travel in Canada with your adapter, and/or if you add a new line to your account. Regardless of what address you register for a WiFi, RangTel V-Phone or SoftPhone, the national emergency response centre does not receive your phone number or physical location information when you place a 9-1-1 call. You can update your 9-1-1 Dialing address information from your web account.

Remember that the 9-1-1 Dialing service will not function in the event of a power or broadband outage or if your broadband, ISP or RangTel service is suspended or terminated.

You should inform any household residents, guests and other persons who may be present at the physical location where you utilize the RangTel service, of the important differences in and limitations of VoIP 9-1-1 Dialing service as compared with E911 service, as set out above.

Traveling with 911

Unlike traditional phone lines, you can use RangTel anywhere. RangTel service is portable to any location with broadband Internet access. Since RangTel uses the address you provide to determine the nearest emergency response centre, when you move or travel with your phone adapter in Canada, you must update your new location. Regardless of what address you register for a WiFi, RangTel V-Phone or SoftPhone, the national emergency response centre does not receive your phone number or physical location information when you place a 9-1-1 call. It's free and easy - just log into the features section of your web account and follow the instructions. You will receive an email confirming your service is activated for 9-1-1 dialing. Customers traveling outside of Canada will not be able to update 911 Dialing.

Please note that it can take several hours before your new settings take effect. Remember, when you add a line, change your number or cancel your number portability request, you will need to activate 911 Dialing again.

Call Forwarding

RangTel Call Forwarding lets you ring multiple numbers of your choice. You can send incoming calls to any phone number you choose, even International numbers.

Sequential Ringing :

With Sequential Ringing, your incoming calls will ring each number you specify in the exact order you choose for the length of time you select. If a number you chose is in use or does not answer, the next number in your list will immediately ring. Sequential ringing can ring both in network and out of network numbers including long distance and international numbers.

Why do you want this?

Let's say you don't want callers to go to voicemail even when you can't get the phone. You can add all of your numbers including other business associates, your home, office, cell and even your friends or someone else who takes calls for you. With sequential ringing you'll never miss an important call.

Simultaneous Ringing:

This incredible feature rings all the numbers you chose at one time. The call will connect to the first phone answered.

Why do you want this?

This feature is perfect for companies who have multiple people available to take calls or for individuals on the move. Users that are not always near one specific phone can make sure callers reach you in the fewest number of rings. Whether you're at home, in the car, out to lunch, traveling or at work, you can answer a call fast.

How it Works:

Advanced Call Forwarding is included with every RangTel account at no additional cost. When ringing a "non RangTel " number such as your cell phone or international number, a per minute fee will apply.

Easy to Setup and Easy to Use

Setting up RangTel Call Forwarding is easy.

  1. Login to the web based Control Panel.
  2. Click the Call Forwarding tab. Enter the numbers you want to ring.
  3. Choose Sequential or Simultaneous and the number of seconds you want the system to ring.

Call Waiting

Never Miss An Important Phone Call Ever Again

RangTel Call Waiting allows you to accept an incoming call while you're already on a phone call. This feature places your first call on hold while you answer the second incoming call.

Switching Between Calls Is Easy:

While you're on the phone, a beep tone alerts you to another incoming call. If available, the new phone number also displays on your Caller ID device. If you want to take the call, press the flash button or switch hook on your phone to answer the second incoming call. Calls that you do not answer go to voicemail.

Disable Call Waiting Two Easy Ways:

Use your RangTel Online Account to activate/deactivate Call Waiting for all calls. If you want to keep Call Waiting active but want to turn it off for a single call, just press *70 before you dial the number. Call Waiting will be temporarily disabled until you complete the phone call.

Caller ID

Know Who's Calling... Before You Take the Call

You can tell who's calling you before you answer the phone. RangTel Caller ID with Name will show you the name and phone number of your incoming caller on your Caller ID device whenever it is available. It's compatible with any Caller ID with Name-enabled touch-tone phone or device. It's an excellent way to manage your incoming calls.

With Caller ID with Name You're in Control:

RangTel Caller ID with Name comes with great included extras. The caller's identity is displayed right in the email you receive when you activate Voicemail Notification by Email. You can also see the caller's name in your RangTel Online Account by moving your mouse over the call record.

It also works with Call Waiting, displaying the new caller's identity when you hear the Call Waiting tones.
